Itihāsas

The Itihāsas of Sanskrit literature stand as the great epic tradition through which dharma, duty, kingship, devotion, and the values of human life are presented through living narrative form. By connecting the meaning of the Vedas with lived human experience, these sacred works illuminate practical and righteous paths through exemplary characters and events.

Within the Itihāsas, the avatāra manifestations of Bhagavān, His acts for the establishment of dharma, and the moral and spiritual complexities faced by the living being are portrayed in great depth. These texts are regarded not merely as narratives, but also as enduring dharmic foundations that continue to guide society across generations. For this reason, the Itihāsas remain indispensable for study, devotional recitation, contemplation, and daily remembrance.

In this section, Sanskrit Itihāsa texts will be presented in a structured and tradition aligned manner suitable for both Adhyayanam and Parāyaṇam. During the initial phase, primary emphasis will be given to major Itihāsas such as ŚrīRāmāyaṇam and Mahābhāratam.

At present, only the titles within this section are being indicated. As the respective Itihāsa texts are gradually commenced, the associated content will be added systematically in accordance with traditional presentation.
